Fall and College Football

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year in Vermont – and it has definitely arrived!  Morning temps are in the 30’s, my big furry dog thinks he is a pup again as he bounds through the nippy morning mist.  The leaves are changing colors on the trees, the driveway is covered with fallen leaves.  The leaf-peepers (tourists) will be here within days.

One of the best parts about fall is college football.  I am from the South where we live and breathe SEC football.  People in New England don’t understand serious college football.  They get much more excited about the pro teams and college ice hockey – a very big deal in this area.

However, I come from a tradition where tailgating begins on Thursday and then you join at least 90,000 of your closest friends at the stadium on Saturday afternoon.  Just in case you missed the game on ESPN on Saturday afternoon, Georgia beat Steve Spurrier 18 – 0.  Go Dawgs
