Greetings from Pennsylvania on Election Day

I have been on a recruiting trip for the last two weeks – primarily in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.  It has been an amazing experience to witness the election campaigning in the battleground states, sometimes wondering if we are all witnessing the same campaign.  Especially in Texas, the negative advertising by Republican groups against local and national Democratic candidates is lethal.  Ohio and Pensylvania have been more even in the ads – equally negative on both sides.  We really miss much of the action in Vermont, and now I am glad.

I can’t remember the last time I was home on a presidential election day.  Having voted by absentee ballot several weeks ago, all the excitement is almost anti-climatic.  However, I will be up half the night, watching the “magic wall” on CNN.  Hopefully this time, we can go to bed with a clear winner.

In the meantime, today is Dickinson College and Gettysburg College – time to talk with more candidates!
