What do we do in January?

We are moving into mid-January, with lots of snow and brutal cold. However, the fun continues! After all, you can’t stay inside and work or study all the time.

This notice just came out on the campus e-mail: “The VLS Hockey team invites students, faculty, and staff to the first of two Skate with the Swans this semester. The first will be held this Friday from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the rink in Randolph. The team will cover the cost of all skate rentals and food (pizza, snacks) and drinks (hot chocolate, cider) will be provided. Please bring family and friends! It is supposed to be cold so please dress appropriately. We might play some light stick and puck the second hour, so if you have a hockey stick bring one. I am sure we will have extras.”

Considering that the temperatures will be below zero, it’s going to be really, really cold on Friday night. We are quite proud of our fighting swans hockey team. They seldom do well in the league rankings, but their energy and enthusiasm are unsurpassed. You gotta love ’em!
