Vermont Professor Gus Speth: Advocate

You may have seen it on the news or read about it in a recent VLS press release. Professor Gus Speth, a recognized leader on international environmental law issues, was one of seventy people arrested during a protest in Washington DC surrounding the development of the Alberta tar sands pipeline.

Students attend Vermont in substantial part because they know they are being taught by leaders in their field. They also know that substantive knowledge only goes so far. As Professor Speth has demonstrated,  being a leader is  to stand in the face of opposition, and above all, to advocate for the good of our civilization and planet.
